Working from home is becoming more more of a regulararity for many employees following the Covid Pandemic. Learning to be successful in this environment takes time and creativity. Here are a few simple tips to getting started.
1. Create a schedule and keep consistent hours. This means starting work at the same time, taking a lunch, taking your breaks, and finishing up at the end of your day or shift at the same consistent time.
2. Don't work through lunch. Your mind and body both need fuel.
3. Set boundaries with how and when you can be contacted. Working from home doesn't mean you should be answering emails at midnight, unless that is part of the boundaries you have created.
4. Find your dedicated work space. Try your best to have a desk or chair for your work rather than working from bed.
5. Do something after your work day that is similar to how you would end your day in an office. Get up from your space, tidy up your items, turn off lights, shut the door, and close the computer. You may also find that creating a "commute" time frame by walking outdoors for 15 minutes at the end of the day can create an emotional separation between work & home.
